Learning Support Assistant (ASD Secondary School)

Full-Time | Long-Term Position

Chalk Education is seeking a committed and compassionate Learning Support Assistant to join a specialist Autism Secondary School on a full-time, long-term basis. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young people with autism and additional learning needs.

About the Role

You will work closely with teaching staff, supporting students with Autism in both classroom and small-group environments. The role may include:

• Providing tailored 1:1 and group support
• Helping students regulate emotions, behaviour, and sensory needs
• Assisting with communication strategies
• Supporting learning activities across the curriculum
• Contributing to individual education plans and behaviour support plans
• Participating in de-escalation and positive behaviour management techniques (training provided)

This role may involve working with students who require consistent boundaries, physical presence, or behaviour-support strategies. Due to this, we welcome applications from candidates who are confident in providing calm, safe support in situations that may require physical resilience.

About You

We are looking for someone who is:

• Patient, empathetic, and reliable
• Able to build positive relationships with young people
• Confident in supporting behaviour and emotional regulation
• A strong communicator and team player
• Willing to undertake relevant training (e.g., Team Teach)

Experience within SEN, youth work, care, or behaviour support is desirable but not essential — the right attitude and willingness to learn are just as important.
